Customs dept seizes adult toys from Chennai port

Customs officials have seized adult toys worth Rs 79 lakh allegedly smuggled into India from China by two city-based importers at the port here, officials said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the officials intercepted two consignments at the port here belonging to the importers.
The goods declared in the consignment were wall clock, broom stick, baby chair.
However, an examination revealed 6,452 units of adult toys of various types valued at Rs 79 lakh were concealed in declared goods, an official release said.
As the adult toys fall under the category of pornography figure prohibited for import, the toys were seized under the Provisions of Customs Act, it said.

Further investigation are underway, it added.
