Cyndi Lauper criticises Madonna's Women's March speech

Veteran singer Cyndi Lauper has criticised Madonna's controversial Women's March speech, saying that the pop diva was just "yelling" and failed to serve the cause.
Madonna made a surprise appearance among the 500,000 people who marched in the US capital on Saturday, where the 58-year-old said that she had at times been angry after the election and had thought "an awful lot about blowing up the White House."
Speaking on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen", Lauper spoke about Madonna's address and said that although she was "glad her fellow pop star went to the march," she thought she could have been more effective without getting so angry, reported The Telegraph.

"I think it happens a lot when you are really jacked up, feeling your emotions. I don't think it served our purpose because anger is not better than clarity and humanity," Lauper, 63, said.
Lauper, however, praised actress Scarlett Johansson, who spoke about her experience of using Planned Parenthood services as a teenager.
"She shared her story. It was clear and it was eloquent. Yelling doesn't (help). It just jacks people up but it doesn't communicate any type of humanity or any kind of story that would open another person's mind.
