Dalit man beaten to death for not paying money to lender

A 40-year-old Dalit man was beaten to death at Behdathru village allegedly by his lender after he refused to pay the interest on his debt, police said.
Naresh died in the hospital yesterday, police said.
According to a complaint filed by the victim's wife, Naresh was beaten and tortured on September 6 by Mintu and his son Minu.
The two had lent Rs 40,000 to Naresh which he had already returned but they demanded extra money by adding compound interest to the amount, she said in the complaint.
He refused to pay the extra amount following which the two accused thrashed him on September 6. He was hospitalised the same day, police said.
