A lock of David Bowie's hair, cut by a wig maker at Madame Tussauds in London is set to become an odd auction item.
The hair, lopped off in 1983, is expected to fetch thousands when it is auctioned off by Heritage Auctions in the US on behalf of Wendy Farrier, a wig maker who worked at Madame Tussauds.
She cut his hair so she could use it to perfect the colour of a wig for the late rock star's waxwork in 1983, reported New York Daily News.
"We have sold a lot of celebrity hair in the past but never any of David Bowie's. This is pretty unique. It is difficult to predict how much it will go for but we recently sold some of John Lennon's hair, which was snipped from his head by his barber, for a huge sum," auctioneer Margaret Barrett said.
"David Bowie has now passed away and fans are devastated by the news so we are expecting to get a lot of interest in the sale."
Bids on the lock of hair are now open, ahead of the sale on June 25.
