DD to air special series to mark Police Commemoration Day tom

Doordarshan will air a special 13-episode series from tomorrow to mark the Police Commemoration Day in memory of the security personnel, who were killed in the line of duty.
The series, 'Police Parakram - Amar Shaheedon Ko Naman' (Police Valour-Salute to Martyrs), focuses on the sacrifices made by innumerable police persons across the country since independence in defence of national unity and security and the safety of our citizens, officials said.
The series will be telecasted every Wednesday from 10 pm on DD News and 5 pm on DD National.
The first episode of the series, produced by Doordarshan, would feature the sacrifices made by police personnel at Hot Springs in Ladakh in 1959.

The Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21.
Other episodes would feature major terrorist attacks in the country's recent history, including the Parliament attack, the Mumbai (26/11) attack, the Akshardham temple attack on Gujarat, the Raghunath temple attack in Jammu, among others.
Some of the episodes would have actual footage, recreated scenes and recollections by police personnel involved.
"The objective of the series is to create awareness about the supreme sacrifices made by our gallant police personnel as also sensitize our viewers on issues of national security and unity. We really hope the series would help bring about positive public perception about our police forces and personnel," K G Suresh, senior consulting editor with DD News, said.
