The farmer, Somabhai Rathod, consumed pesticide while he was alone at home yesterday, according to family sources.
He was taken to the SSG hospital here where he breathed his last late last night, they said.
The reason behind the suicide of the farmer was yet to be ascertained, police said.
The farmer's sons said that he had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 and was worried about its repayment after the failure of crop following deficient rainfall this season.
Police said further investigations were on.
Twelve farmers from Saurashtra and Kutch region in Gujarat had committed suicide due to crop failure this month.
