To ensure that water supply is not disrupted due to tripping of power lines, the Gurgaon district administration is mulling a proposal to lay dedicated underground electricity cables from Daultabad power sub-station to its water treatment plant at Basai.
The proposal was mooted at a meeting called by Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi with officials of power utilities and departments related to water supply here today.
Superintending Engineer of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Adarsh Gupta said Gurgaon now has enough treated water for supply and pipelines have also been laid.
Despite all these arrangements, it is a matter of concern that some parts of Gurgaon city faced shortage of drinking water in the first week of this month, though the situation was brought under control later on, he said.
Gupta said the problem erupted due to frequent tripping of electricity lines to the water treatment plant.
He said the power utilities should ensure uninterrupted power supply to the treatment plant.
In the meeting, Executive Engineer of Power Utilities V K Aggarwal said at present the Sector 10 A power feeder was being upgraded which will take another 15 days to complete.
Aggarwal suggested that if underground dedicated power line is laid from Daultabad sub station to the water treatment plant, the problem of frequent tripping can be solved. The Basai water treatment plant is located at a distance of about 5 km from Daultabad sub-station.
