According to information received here, the Ranchi youngster, who has slipped to 19th in the world rankings because of slump in form this year, bounced back to shoot 454 to top the women's recurve ranking round.
Deepika, however, did not get enough support from her teammates Laxmi Rani Majhi and Laishram Bombayla Devi, who finished ninth and 20th respectively, as the Indian recurve women's team slipped to second place with 1319 points behind China (1330).
Rai and Deepika's show also ensured a top place in the mixed pair qualification round in which the elimination will take place later in the day.
Elimination rounds for the recurve and compound sections will begin tomorrow while the finals will be held during the weekend.
