With maximum temperature registered at 42.6 deg C today, there has been a slight decrease in day temperature from last week's 45.7 deg C, which was the highest for the month of May in a decade, MeT officials said.
They, however, added that it was a temporary respite following a western disturbance affecting Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Temperatures may rise once again towards the last week of May once this subsides, the officials said.
The minimum temperature stood at 30.2 deg C, which was three notches above normal and one degree above yesterday's 30.5 deg C.
The weather department predicted a partly cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorms in some areas within the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures is expected to be around 44 deg C and 30 deg C tomorrow.
