The government is also actively considering market intervention by creating buffer stock for pulses and releasing it as and when required to stabilize prices, said a senior government official today.
State government has been actively monitoring the price situation of essential edible items.
The prices of pulses were reviewed in a meeting held by Food and Supplies minister Asim Ahmed Khan with trade representatives as a part of this exercise, said the official.
The government has also directed the Food and Civil Supplies department to study the possibility of a law to regulate the warehousing activities in Delhi, he said.
They were also warned against hoarding and speculative activities, the official added.
As a first step, all wholesalers, millers and importers in Delhi were directed to furnish details of godowns and stock positions of pulses.
