Delhi may scrap minimum experience for govt contractors

Delhi government is proposing to do away with the minimum experience threshold limit for registering as government contractor, a move likely to boost start-ups in the state.
"Government of Delhi is proposing to do away with minimum threshold experience limit for registering as government contractor, which will be a big boost to start-ups," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said addressing a gathering of investors attending the special state plenary on Delhi in the 5th Invest North 2016 meet organised by CII.
In the initial stage this is being done for civic work and later will be expanded to other sectors, he was quoted as saying in a statement by CII.

Sisodia said the AAP government is working to make the process for approval and sanctions online.
Last year, the government did this benefiting the event management sector. Taking the process to next level, now the government has done away with physical submission of T1 & T2 forms, he said.
"We have asked the traders to share through details regarding the vehicle registration number and details of the commodities through SMS information for easy entry of goods into the city," he said.
GST Council is expected to keep the VAT and Service Tax threshold limit at Rs 20 lakhs, which will significantly benefit the small businesses and traders of Delhi, he added.
