Delhi poll museum, Metro win awards on National Voters Day

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and a poll-themed museum set up in the office premises of Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi were awarded by the Election Commission on the occasion of National Voters Day today.
The poll-themed museum bagged the national award for adopting innovative measures to reach out to citizens, especially the youth.
"Since its opening last October, the response towards the museum has been good and we are receiving a steady increase in footfall. Over 6,000 students from 55 schools have already visited the museum," CEO of Delhi Chandra Bhushan Kumar said.
Christened 'A Journey through Elections', the museum is located on the first floor of the iconic old St Stephen's College Building, which at present houses the office of the Delhi CEO at Kashmere Gate.

Inaugurated on October 18, the museum has been selected for the national award under the 'Special Category' by the Election Commission as an "innovative measure", the CEO office said.
The first-of-its-kind museum chronicles the country's historical electoral journey with artefacts, documents, photographs and film exhibits drawn from rare archives.

Endowed with 200-odd exhibits of 100-120 rare photographs drawn from several archives, the museum was inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi, who termed the place as "journey of the electoral democratic process of India".
A special voters' pledge section has also been set up at the museum where visitors can take the pledge and take selfies.

Delhi Metro, which has been actively engaged by the office of CEO Delhi to create awareness, has also been selected for the national award under the 'PSU Category'.
The awards were conferred by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function held here on the occasion of National Voters Day.
