Demo demanding inclusion of Meitei in ST list of Manipur

The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (STDCM) today staged a sit-in demonstration at Keisampat Lairembi Community Hall in Manipur's Imphal West district demanding inclusion of Meitei community into scheduled tribe category.
A release by STDCM said the issue of demand has already been put up by Ng Bijoy, MLA, in the state Assembly and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh assured the house to discuss the matter during the last session.
A memorandum containing this demand and several others was submitted to the Chief Minister just after the sit-in demonstration was over, the release said.
