Demonetisation: People should not be harried, says AIADMK

AIADMK today said efforts should be made to ensure that the common man is not harried by the demonetisation move even as it affirmed that black money should be rooted out and welcomed scrapping of 500 and 1000 rupee notes.
Stating that the common man was affected by factors like non-availability of change, non-functioning of a section of ATMs and difficulty in getting currency from banks after the demonetisation move, AIADMK spokesperson C R Saraswathy said such aspects needed to be looked into by central authorities.
"We are for rooting out blackmoney. We welcome it. But common man should not be harried by the demonetisation move. Efforts should be taken to ensure that the common man is not affected," Saraswathy told PTI.

She said factors including non-availability of change in view of demonetisation has "caused a huge impact ... This has affected the common man."
"Half of the ATMs are shut. Long, unending queues are witnessed in banks (to withdraw and deposit cash).
"Even if people exchange scrapped notes in banks, they only get Rs 2,000 notes... What they will do with such high value notes, they do not get change... People are affected," she said.
