Addressing the 30th Indian Engineering Congress in Guwahati, NTPC CMD A K Jha said the 21st century engineering will be about environmental and social sustainability of the planet and its people, according to the company's release.
As India moves to a high trajectory of growth through major policy initiatives like Make in India, the big responsibility lies with the engineering fraternity, Jha said.
The country's largest power producer NTPC has a total installed capacity of 45,548 MW, including JVs, with 18 coal-fired and 7 gas-based stations, according to its website.
The company has set a target of an installed power generating capacity of 1,28,000 MW by 2032, the website said.
