Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai today urged large corporates to come forward to support micro, small and medium enterprises to help the government achieve its vision of 'Make in India'.
"The progress of India lies in the progress of its states and the industries therein, which is possible only with large companies handholding and supporting the micro, small and medium enterprises," Desai said at the CII MSME Summit 2015 organised here.
He said it is encourging to see the attention and the support received by MSMEs, not only from the government, but also by the industry and other institutions.
"The 'Make in India' and 'Make in Maharashtra' initiatives can be realised only if there is a focus on the welfare, potential and growth of MSMEs. The state government is committed to support the development of manufacturing by improving the ease of doing business and making the state investor-friendly," he said.
Desai further said his government's initiative 'Maitri' is a one stop shop for all investment requirements be it disseminating vital industry related information or facilitating investments into the state.
"We are committed to ensure that industry gets hassle-free permissions for necessary infrastructure for setting up businesses in the state. There is a need for a holistic industrial growth with an environment for encouraging start ups and to support struggling enterprises and large companies should take a lead in this," he added.
Speaking at the occasion, Ajay Shankar Chairman of Expert Committee on Regulatory Affairs formed under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) said MSMEs will have to adopt technology and innovation to become globally competitive.
"We are in a globalised economy. This necessitates that all MSMEs take lessons and master technology and innovate. Besides, the youth should come forward and participate in the mission of 'Make in India'," he added.
