Designs of new AP legislature building, HC complex finalised

The building housing Andhra Pradesh Legislature will be built in the shape of a diamond, while the High Court complex will resemble a Buddhist stupa in the new capital city Amaravati.
Designs for these two "iconic buildings" to come up in the Government City in the capital were finalised today.
London-based Fosters + Partners, appointed by the Andhra government as the master architect for designing the Government City, presented the designs to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here.
Fosters actually came up with the diamond design for the HC and the stupa design for the legislature but the chief minister suggested that they be interchanged.

"Seeing the legislature building, people should feel that they have got back the precious Kohinoor diamond (taken away by the British).
"Stupa signifies happiness and I want people to feel that justice is the greatest happiness. The High Court should reflect that," Naidu told Fosters' representatives at a high- level meeting.
He asked them to show the HC building design to the acting Chief Justice in Hyderabad before coming up with necessary modifications.
Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, P Narayana, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar, Amaravati Development Corporation chairperson D Lakshmi Parthasarathy and other top officials attended the meeting.
