World's largest spirits maker Diageo today announced opening of a new business services centre in Bengaluru with plans to employ around 1,000 people by the end of next year.
To be known as Diageo Business Services India (DBSI), it will initially build a global (Diageo) finance and accounting footprint. Already 100 people have been recruited, Diageo said in a statement.
Currently, DBSI is operating from an incubation centre at Karle Town ahead of moving to a purpose built, state of the art permanent facility in the same centre, before the end of the calendar year.
DBSI starts its operations today, the company said, adding later on that the centre will be located at the Karle Town Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
It will focus on the fields of finance and accounting, and plans to move fast into other areas such as business intelligence, analytics and data services among others, the company said.
"The centre is expected to employ around 1,000 people by the end of 2017," it added.
DBSI Managing Director Tracey Barnes said: "At Diageo, culture, diversity and inclusion are integral to our ways of working. We believe that our organisation should fully reflect the communities we work in and serve.
"This is particularly important in Bangalore, where we are creating so many opportunities for great talent and aiming for an equal balance of female and male employees.
