After the box office success of three back-to-back films - 'Belaseshe', 'Praktan' and 'Posto' - director-duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee is now upbeat about their next two outings - 'Haami' and 'Kantho'.
"In all these years, our main aim had been to retain Bengaliness in our works. We have tried to make sure that the content appeals to Bengalis of all age groups," Mukherjee told PTI yesterday on the sidelines of a press meet called by them to announce their upcoming ventures.
Haami, based on the exploits of schoolchildren, is awaiting its release in May.
"Haami focuses on the friendship between three kids and their relationship with parents. Like our previous films, this one will be liked by children and their guardians alike," he said.
The film has Gargee Roy Chowdhury and Mukherjee in lead roles as parents, and other popular actors such as Neel Mukherjee, Churni Ganguly, Kharaj Mukherjee in side roles.
Talking about his other directorial venture, Kantho', a film about a cancer patient's fightback journey, Mukherjee said the shooting has just begun.
"Kantho', as the name suggests, is about a radio jockey who has been diagnosed with throat cancer," he explained.
Paoli, who essayed the role of Mukherjee's wife in the film, said 'Kantho' has a social message to convey.
"We often talk about health issues. So many medical conferences are held in our country. But how many of us are turning conscious about our health?" she said.
Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan plays the role of a speech therapist in the film.
The director duo will also be producing 'Manojder Adbhut Bari' by Anindya Chatterjee and 'Rosogolla' by Pavel, Mukherjee said.
"We back films which have contents that gel with our way of thinking When I hear interesting scripts from friends like Anindya or Pavel, I immediately say 'oh yes, we can do this project'," he added.
