The 49-year-old director said that the 'Game of Thrones' star is unrecognizable without her long blond wig from the hit series, reported the New York Post.
The 'Dom Hemingway' director had no idea who she was when Clarke, 26, auditioned for the film.
"I love 'Game of Thrones'. But I didn't recognize her because she didn't have her wig," Shepard said.
"I'm literally like, 'What have you been doing lately?' And she said, 'Oh, I've been doing this show.' Oh? 'What's the show?', I responded," he added.
