The police sent a wireless message to their counterparts in Chhattisgarh as the woman, aged around 25 years, has claimed that she is from Gudiali village of Raipur.
"The woman was not cooperating with us to conduct a medical examination on her on the day," said Mahila police station inspector Sujata Jena adding it was not clear whether the girl was raped as reported in a section of the media.
Police said the woman was incoherent in her statements about her place of stay and the agony she has undergone.
Except some old injuries on her feet, no other external injuries were found in her body, Jena said stating that she might have walked barefoot a lot.
According to reports, the girl was first traced in Buxibazaar area of the city last night walking in acute pain and sufferings.
Informed by locals, Mahila police of the city rescued her.
