Divisive forces trying to incite regional passion in name of

The BJP's Tamil Nadu unit today alleged that "certain divisive forces" in the state were indulging in "inciting language and regional passions" in the name of raising Cauvery issue, which would affect the national sovereignty and integrity.
In a resolution adopted at its two-day state executive committee meeting held at nearby Tirupur, the party lauded the Centre's eagerness to take steps to get the rightful share of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu under the legal framework, even as the state is taking all steps to protect its rights.
"However, certain divisive forces, in the name of agitation for Cauvery water, are trying to incite regional and linguistic passions, which is condemnable," it said.

The resolution on Cauvery also condemned the Congress government in Karnataka for "not releasing water to Tamil Nadu, despite Supreme Court directive, which would result in nearly 20 lakh acres becoming barren and unarable."
"The then DMK Government has not filed any objection for constructing the dams across Kabini, Hemavathi and Harangi in Karnataka in 1970 and 1971, which has resulted the issue turning into bigger dimension," the party said.
Dwelling on the history of Cauvery, the meeting squarely blamed both Congress and DMK for the present situation, which has affected lakhs of farmers and "the people will not forget the betrayal by these parties."

The meeting congratulated the Indian army for carrying out surgical strikes. It also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new crop insurance scheme.

In another resolution, the party wished Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospitals at Chennai, a speedy recovery.
Expressing concern over reported infiltration of IS operatives in various districts of Tamil Nadu, the party blamed state police and intelligence department for its failure on the issue as the terror group "has threatened to finish off leaders of BJP and RSS and also attack the RSS parade scheduled in November in the state."
The meeting also condemned the killing of Hindu Munnani activist, Sasikumar and the delay in nabbing the culprits, even as many leaders of Hindu outfits were targeted during the last one year.
