The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) today approved the Rs 5,137 crore-budget for the 2018-19 financial year and also gave its nod to various projects including of laying of water lines in several areas in the national capital.
The decisions were taken at the 138th board meeting of the DJB, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to the DJB, the board approved budget for the financial year 2018-19 - Rs 2350 crore for plan and Rs 2787.63 crores for non-plan heads.
For bringing about "overall improvement" in the water distribution system, the DJB accorded approval to the proposal for laying of feeder mains and various sizes of distribution mains for Brijwasan and Rajokari UGRs/BPS.
"The work of providing and laying of water lines in Tirathanker Nagar Jain Nagar Colony in Mundka Constituency was also approved by the Board," the DJB said in a statement.
It stated that laying of water distribution system in JIC Sawda Ghevra in Mundka constituency was accorded approval by the board.
The water supply to this colony is proposed from under ground reservoir (UGR) and BPS at Karala, statement said, adding that the peripheral network on the command of Karala UGR upto Sawda Ghevra has already been laid and this project will benefit the whole population of the area.
According to the statement, approval was given to the appointment of IIT Delhi as monitoring agency for the work of rehabilitation of peripheral sewer lines in Delhi-Package 5, 6 and 7 at an estimated cost of Rs 4.71 crore as the consultancy fees.
The DJB also accorded approval to the rehabilitation of peripheral sewers of dia 450-1000 mm by CIPP structural lining method in Saket, Pushp Vihar, Panchsheel Park Area, Soami Nagar, Greater Kailash and adjoining areas in South Delhi at an estimated cost of Rs 64.80 crore, it added.
