The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) today signed a MoU to jointly promote tourism.
As per the MoU, the two organisations will help and facilitate each other for tourist-friendly information and promotion of tourism in the city through their services.
DMRC will identify locations at 5 metro stations for opening DTTDC information counters.
Dwarka Metro Station has been identified as the station to start with the project.
"The concept of 'rent-a-bicycle' will be explored for implementation at Saket Metro station to facilitate tourists and also help them in exploring the city," a DMRC spokesperson said.
People can rent a bicycle at nominal rate with ID to visit these places and could also make use of the cycle track developed in GFS.
DMRC will also make announcements in Metro trains informing the commuters about important events being organized by DTTDC in Delhi such as Dilli Ke Pakwan, Kite Festival, Mango Festival, Garden Festival, Itra Festival among some.
DTTDC will also sell Delhi Metro Tourist Smart Cards of one and three-day validity as well as Delhi Metro Travel Smart Cards through its outlets.
DTTDC shall provide space at its sites for DMRC to set up kiosks during fairs or festivals organized by them such as Mango Festival, Garden Festival, Kite Festival and Itra Festival.
Delhi Metro at present runs its services on seven Lines spanning around 190 kilometers and all key tourist attractions of Delhi like Qutab Minar, Jama Masjid, Lotus Temple and Akshardham Temple fall on its different routes.
The MoU was signed at Metro Bhawan by DMRC's Director (Operations) Sharat Sharma and DTTDC MD & CEO G G Saxena in the presence of DMRC MD Mangu Singh and a host of other dignitaries.
In order to help the people to know the latest information regarding both the Corporations, DMRC will arrange to link its website www.Delhimetrorail.Com with that of DTTDC.
