The formation of the new party was announced at a rally here on December 5 by Vellapally Natesan, General Secretary of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, an organisation of the numerically strong backward Ezhava community in the state.
In a letter to the Election Commission, KPCC President V M Sudheeran said if the new party was allotted 'folded palms', it would create confusion among voters and was likely to affect the prospects of the Congress during the election.
The new party is most likely to have a tie-up with BJP in Kerala as SNDP Yogam had supported and co-operated with BJP in the recently held Civic polls.
