The body was retrieved from the burnt car parked near Sujanpur, about 14 km from here, police said.
Doctor Zorawar Singh, a resident of Vibhan village in Kapurthala, had left his home yesterday in his car to attend a wedding in Rajouri but as he rached Sujanpur, his car met with an accident on the national highway near a hotel on the outskirts of Sujanpur, police said.
Police today came to know about the car parked and the body lying inside it. On recovering some documents of the man from the car, his family was informed in native village and his father Gurdeep Singh reached the spot and identfied his son's body.
Police, however, have been working on various leads and probing the angle of foul play in the car fire.
