Comedienne Kathy Griffin says she is surprised at the huge attention given by people to her exit from style TV show "Fashion Police" after seven episodes of hosting.
Griffin, 54, exited the show just two weeks after co-host Kelly Osbourne announced her departure. Osbourne left the programme last month, days after threatening to quit over the fall-out following ill-advised remarks her colleague Giuliana Rancic made about teen star Zendaya Coleman's red carpet look at the Oscars.
Griffin, who had replaced late Joan Rivers on "Fashion Police", said her style did not fit with the creative direction of the show, reported People magazine.
The funnywoman said people have made an unnecessary hype about her exit.
"It just didn't work out. That's it. That's the scandal. "However, Hollywood, of course, enjoys blowing something up," she told the crowd at her Friday show in Waterbury, Connecticut, in a video obtained.
"I just am surprised that people are so invested in this show. But I shouldn't be because Joan was so incredible and amazing, and it just wasn't the right thing for me."
Calling the coverage of her departure "kind of funny," she said she appreciated the support she has received on Twitter.
