Attempts would be made to ensure more youth from Goa join the armed forces, Union Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said on Tuesday.
Addressing reporters here, Naik said initiatives like 'Know Your Army' would be organised in Goa over the next five to six months along with an Indian Air Force recruitment camp to be held between August 27-30.
"Goan youth prefer to join the police but there is no enthusiasm to be part of the prestigious armed forces. We will make attempts to attract them towards this career option as they have the capability to serve the nation," the North Goa Lok Sabha MP said.
He expressed confidence that after these drives, at least 500 Goan youth would joining the armed forces.
