Police said the accused, Mohit Tyagi, hired a contract killer and paid him Rs 1 lakh to murder his father, Mahesh.
Both Mohit and his accomplice Pappu have been arrested, they said.
Mahesh's body was found in a forest in Nagla area on September 15.
Apparently angry with his drug habits, Mohit's father got him admitted to a de-addiction centre in Muradnagar on August 14, police said, adding the man fled the centre after a month and went back to drugs.
"Fed up with his father's continuous objection, Mohit hatched a conspiracy to kill him and gave a contract of Rs 1 lakh to Pappu," a senior police officer said.
On September 14, Mohit took his father to an isolated place on the pretext of discussing some matters, where Pappu pounced on him from behind and hacked him to death.
They then deserted the body in a forest area, police said, adding two spades used in the murder had been recovered.
