A 20-year-old Delhi University student allegedly committed suicide at his rented accommodation in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area, police said on Thursday.
Divyansh, a resident of Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh, was a third-year B.Com student at the varsity and he hanged himself from a ceiling fan, they said.
Police said as per a suicide note found at the spot, he loved a girl and she was getting married.
One of his friends who stayed in the same building informed police about the incident around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.
In the suicide note, Divyansh apologised to his parents for taking the extreme step and said he decided to end his life as the girl he was in love with was getting married, a senior police officer said.
Inquest proceedings were initiated in the matter and the body was handed over to his parents after postmortem, the officer added.
