Ahead of the announcement of assembly elections in Karnataka, the Election Commission has called Home Secretary R K Singh tomorrow for a meeting on the availability of forces for smooth conduct of the polls there.
"A meeting with the Union Home Secretary is convened tomorrow and based on the availability of forces, the Election Commission will decide on the dates for polls in Karnataka," a top Election Commission told PTI.
Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath and Election Commissioners H S Brahma and S N A Zaidi will hold the meeting tomorrow with Home Secretary R K Singh, besides other officials.
The 224-member Karnataka Assembly is slated to go to polls as the tenure of its current assembly expires on June 3.
Karnataka is currently ruled by BJP which is struggling ever since former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa left the party and formed his own outfit. This was the first BJP-led government in any of the southern states.
