The meeting had been called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath as no consensus was evolved in the all- party meeting held on March 7.
Government sources said the meeting is likely to be held some time next week.
"It has been postponed as most of the members are busy with legislative business. We are yet to decide a date," Kamal Nath told PTI.
Parliament is going for a month-long recess from Friday.
In the last meeting, government had decided to send the draft of the proposed legislation to the leaders concerned for perusal and discuss their suggestions in the next meeting.
Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh had told the meeting that the amendments to the Bill have come down to 28 and the government is confident of its smooth passage in the ongoing session.
Earlier, the bill's consideration was deferred by the Lok Sabha's winter session till the budget session bowing to the wishes of Opposition members.
The bill provides for a fair compensation to land owners in both rural and urban areas with the stipulation that consent of 80 per cent of the people for acquiring land for private industry is necessary.
