Education sector in U'khand showing declining trend: Rawat

On the 14th anniversary of Uttarakhand's formation, Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said while the state has achieved a lot in all these years, several sectors, including education, are showing a declining trend.
Launching a book on the occasion, Rawat said, "We have achieved a lot in these 14 years, but we also face big challenges which we cannot ignore."
"We cannot forget that several sectors in the state are showing a declining trend. One of these sectors is education, which is showing a declining trend rather than improvement," Rawat said.
"Similarly, we have not been very successful in preserving the basic identity of Uttarakhand. Also, no work plan could be made in these years to utilise the capabilities of the people of the state," he said.

The Chief Minister, however, assured the people that the government will soon start work in all these areas.
While highlighting the achievements of his government, the Chief Minister said, "The state has progressed a lot in these 14 years. We have been successful in achieving the status of a state which is on the path of development," he said.
"Despite last year's natural calamity, the GDP of the state was over 6% and the income per person is more than Rs 1 lakh," he said.
Rawat said his government has taken several steps to develop the underdeveloped regions of the state and the result of these efforts will be visible in the next one year.
