Egypt today condemned a UN statement on clashes that took place on the 4th anniversary of 2011 revolution, saying the global body neglected terrorism and arson committed by the supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The statement was released by High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein on Tuesday.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that the statement has ignored that the Muslim Brotherhood have planted planting of bombs and explosives in public places to terrorise citizens on semi-daily basis.
The statements neglect terrorism, killing, and arson that have been committed by "supporters of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood or by those who infiltrated among innocent citizens," said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel-Atty in the statement.
Such statements are "far from reality," the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The Ministry also said that the UN statement accused security personnel of excessive use of force against terrorists, who were using firearms and committed all kinds of violence against "police and innocent citizens".
In his statement last Tuesday, Al-Hussein said that he was deeply disturbed by the deaths in clashes that raged in Egypt during the January 25, 2015, which marked the 4th anniversary of the 2011 revolution.
He demanded that Cairo "take urgent measures to bring an end to the excessive use of force by security personnel."
The comments came after at least 23 people were killed in different places in the country in clashes between police and protesters last Friday.
