Eight poachers arrested and fined; gun seized

Eight poachers were arrested and a country gun seized from them today at Sennampatty forest area in the district, forest department officials said
They were also slapped with a fine of Rs 25,000 each by the District Forest Officer, before whom they were produced.
The forest department officials said a team entered the Komarayanure and Sennampatty forest areas on a tip off that the poachers were moving around there in suspicious circumstances and spotted them.
The poachers tried in vain to hide behind some bushes and were nabbed.
On being questioned, the poachers admitted that they had entered the forest for hunting.

In another instance, a dead deer was seized from the house of a person at Anthiyur by forest department officials.
the man, on being questioned, said he had noticed the carcass in the forest and wanted to cook it and eat it
He was fined Rs 25,000, the officials said.
