Elements vitiating peace in J&K to be dealt with firmly: DGP

Jammu and Kashmir Police chief K Rajendra Kumar today said elements which are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state need to be dealt with firmly.
"Some elements are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state and such elements need to be dealt with firmly," he said at a meeting of senior police officers of Jammu Zone at police headquarters here.
The DGP further said that peace and order, besides crime detection are a must for ensuring security of the people in the state.
"Jammu and Kashmir Police has a great role to ensure rule of law and provide peaceful atmosphere in all areas of the state," he said.
The meeting was convened to review law and order, security and crime situation in Jammu division while arrangements for Eid-ul Azha were also discussed.
Stressing on greater synergy among all police components, dealing with law and order and security of the people, the DGP said that rule of law is the prime concern which should be ensured at every cost.
He asked the officers to liaise with the public for strengthening relations in the region.
Frequent meetings by the supervisory officers in their jurisdiction with the people of different communities would help to make the relations better, said the DGP.
Rajendra said that coordination among the field units at different levels is must to ensure security in the state.
He asked them to adopt a common strategy while dealing with situations and ensure full cooperation to the sister agencies involved in law-and-order duties.
On the occasion, IGP, Jammu Zone, Danish Rana briefed the meeting about the overall situation in the entire region.
He said that law-and-order situation in the region has remained satisfactory and people from all walks of life are cooperating with the police in maintaining security, peace and order.
