Emphasis on timely completion of projects

Emphasis has been laid on timely completion of different projects undertaken by Odisha Government in Ganjam district.
State Chief secretary Gokula Chandra Pati, who reviewed the status of various projects with district officers yesterday, stressed the need for their timely completion.
The projects include the World Bank-aided Odisha Disaster Recovery Project (ODRP), drinking water supply to Berhampur town, bus-terminal and depot at Haladiapadar on the outskirt of the city and renovation of water bodies, mainly Ramalingam tank located at the heart of the city.
"While some of the projects have progressed, detailed project reports (DPR) of some other projects are yet to be prepared. Some projects are also pending with the government level," chief secretary said after the meeting.
"We have noted all the problems raised by the officers and will try to solve them," he said. At the same time, he also urged the engineers to prepare the DPRs of some other projects to ensure timely funding and completion.
"I asked for preparation of DPR for the project," chief secretary said Drinking water problem of Berhampur will also be solved, said an engineer.
Presently the city requires around 52-million liters of water daily but is getting around 50 million liters per day from various sources including Dakhinapur reservoir and Rushikuya water supply system.
The city faces acute drinking water problem during summer season, when water supply from Rushikulya system gets reduced.
The chief secretary also inspected physically various projects. The projects include Rs 15-crore bus terminal at Haladiapadar being executed by Berhampur Development Authority (BDA) and pucca houses constructed under ODRP in coastal blocks, sources said.
