The first English translation of Nepali 'Ramayana', written by the 19th century legendary poet Bhanubhakta Acharya, was released here.
Translated by celebrated writer Gokul Sinha, the book was yesterday launched by distinguished author Indra Bahadur Rai at a function.
Rai said, "Though Bhanubhakta's 'Ramayana' has been translated into other languages, but he had to wait for 200 years to get it translated into English.... I congratulate Sinha on taking up this great task."
Adi Kavi Bhanubhakta not only translated the 'Ramayana' from Sanskrit to Nepali, but also gave a famous rhyme called 'Bhanubhaktiya laya' to the epic.
