Enlarge infrastructure for scientific research in JK: Guv

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today stressed on the need to enlarge infrastructural facilities for scientific research in the state and asked academicians to inculcate scientific spirit among students from an early stage.
"Academicians should take appropriate steps for inculcation of scientific spirit among the students from an early stage," Vohra, who is also Chancellor of the Jammu University, said.
He was speaking at the 76th meeting of University Council of Jammu University here at Raj Bhavan.
The Governor urged vice chancellors of both Kashmir and Jammu Universities to evolve an Internal Recognition Scheme for encouraging teachers who excel in their fields, to publish research papers in known national and internal journals and achieve promising results in implementing research projects.
The University Council also discussed Institutional Development Plan of the Jammu University, submitted to the State Government for its inclusion in the State Higher Education Plan under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.
This over Rs 115 crore Institutional Development Plan includes research, innovation, faculty improvement, and infrastructure grants for the University.
The Council approved introduction of the broad scheme of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at the Post Graduate Level through regular mode and semester system at the undergraduate level from the academic session 2014-15.
The University would provide counselling to aspiring youth to facilitate adequate understanding of the students about the choices available under CBCS.
