ER to observe passenger facilitation fortnight from May 26

Eastern Railways will observe a 'Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight' from tomorrow to ensure better services to regular commuters and long distance train passengers.
"I and other senior officers will travel in different trains for a first hand experience of the amenities provided to the passengers and interact with them to know whether they are facing any impediments," Eastern Railway General Manager R K Gupta told a press conference here today.
"During the fortnight, it has been planned to start interacting with the passengers directly by me, DRMs and other senior officers in all the stations under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway," Gupta said, adding the exercise is being done to get a first hand information on how the passengers feel and what their suggestions are for improvement.

"During the period, a number of passenger amenities related projects and works will be inaugurated at the various stations," he said.
As part of the initiative, ER would hold health check-ups in remote areas by its doctors for the benefit of underprivileged people, Gupta added.
A safety awareness campaign vehicle with all safety related awareness booklets and posters was also flagged off by Gupta from the Eastern Railway headquarter at Fairlie Place here.
