Eric Clapton has found himself in the middle of a new legal drama after possibly crediting a blues classic to the wrong man.
The estate administrators of Bo Carter are suing Clapton and several labels for every cent they think the guitar great has made from the song Alberta, which appeared on his 1992 MTV Unplugged album, according to TMZ.
Clapton credited Huddie William Ledbetter - aka Lead Belly - for arranging the traditional tune, but Carter's estate bosses claim the track is actually a rendition of the 1930s bluesman's track Corrine, Corrina.
Carter's lawyers insist Bo wrote and owns the copyright to Corrine, Corrina, which over time has become interchangeable with Lead Belly's version of Alberta.
The plaintiffs now want all the royalties mistakenly paid to Lead Belly's estate.
