Ex-policeman shoots himself dead

Apparently upset over his prolonged illness, a 78 year-old retired policeman allegedly committed suicide in Navratanpur village, police said.

Thakur Prasad Bharadwaj, who had retired from the post of head constable, was depressed over his prolonged illness and allegedly shot himself dead last evening , police said.

He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries on the way , police said.

The body has been sent for postmortem.
