Exam body in Odisha axes teachers for misconduct

Determined to make the ongoing Matriculation examination in Odisha un-tained from copying, the Board of secondary Education (BSE) has come down heavily on some teachers for alleged misconduct.
The Board today placed at least four senior teachers under suspension after divesting them from their positions of centre superintendents.
Similarly, the authorities have also lodged police complaints against a student for impersonation and a teacher, who helped the imposter to appear in the examination for another.
"Three centre superintendents in Keonjhar and one from Sundargarh district are placed under suspension by their respective district education officers (DEOs) for dereliction of duties and misconduct", informed BSE President D P Nanda.
Nanda said the Keonjhar police have also booked a student for impersonation and the teacher, who helped him.
These delinquencies were reported when the regular stream students were appearing the English paper yesterday, Nanda said adding as many as 362 students were booked for 'malpractice' for copying during the examination yesterday. It may be mentioned here that 299 students were also booked as having commited 'malpractice' for resorting to unfair means on the first day of the examination on Monday.
