The accused, Ram Narayan Seth, was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe amount from the complainant, the official said adding the excise superintendent had demanded bribe for renewal of IMFL shop licence.
"The accused official was caught red-handed while receiving demanded amount in his official residence. The hand wash confirmed acceptance of the bribe money," the official said.
The excise superintendent was booked under various provisions of prevention of corruption act. His movable and immovable assets have also come under the vigilance scanner. Simultaneous raids are being conducted in various places to ascertain whether the property owned by him was disproportionate to his known sources of income, they added.
