Exhibition to tap tech for use in armed forces held in Kochi

'Technology for Training', an exhibition to make the most out of cutting-edge technologies to enhance training and efficiency of the armed forces, wasorganised at the naval base here on Wednesday.

The exposition was held onthe sidelines of the 33rd Tri-Services Training Commands Conference (TSTCC), a defence press release said.

The two-day TSTCC is beingattended by the Commanders-in-Chief of the Training Commands of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and IAF and their senior staff.

A total of 2530 tech agencies and firms across the country including civil, such as Xenium Academia Lab Solutions, Maker Village, Unity Technologies, CDAC Chennai and military agency such as NPOL Kochi participated in the exhibition, the release said.

These firms exhibited their productline in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) focusing on artificial intelligence, big data analytics, virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality which provided an educative and enriching experience to the visitors from the Armed Forces, it said.

The visitors from the armed forces would go back with several ideas as to how to incorporate such technologies and equipment in their respective training institutions, it added.

The TSTCC is an annual affair held in rotation by the three services in which various issues pertaining to Tri- Services Training are discussed and deliberated.

About 30 delegates from the three services and headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff are participating in the conference.

Vice-Admiral AK Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding- in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, accompanied by Lieutenant General PC Thimmaya, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command, and Air Marshal AS Butola, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Air Force Training Command, Bengaluru, inaugurated the exhibition.
