IT major Infosys today said it is extending full support, including monetary, to the family of Raghavendran Ganeshan, who died in the terror attack in Brussels last month.
"Raghav (Raghavendran) was a very dear employee. Even though it is close to 200,000 employees, every day our endeavour is to work like a family to treat our employees as family members," Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka said.
Speaking to reporters after announcing Infosys fourth quarter results, he said that on hearing about losing him our first request to our HR team was to treat him like he was our "own brother, that is the way we work and think".
Calling his death in the terror attack as a "senseless" thing, Sikka said, "we are treating this with tremendous dignity. Financial value part is just one part...."
Ganeshan who had been missing since the deadly Brussels bombings was on March 28th confirmed dead in the blast in the metro at Maelbeek station.
Infosys Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ranganath D Mavinakere said: "For all our employees we have coverage and on compassionate grounds from our employee trust we also had a contribution.
"Unfortunately we will not be able to disclose those amounts, but you be rest assured that the company has gone out of its way. Since he was on line of employment, he will be supported in what ever way both monetarily and otherwise."
The techie, who is survived by his wife and one-month old baby, was the sole Indian victim of the attack. His last rites were performed in Chennai.
Responding to a question on any budget allocated for such cases, Mavinakere said, "we have our internal policies how to address this, but we will not be able to disclose."
Deadly terror strike at the Brussels airport and the metro had left 31 dead and 300 injured.
