Delhi government has decided to deduct salaries of its Head of Departments (HoDs) if they fail to pay wages to all contractual workers on time.
The decision was taken in the wake of recent protests by the civil defence volunteers, who were hired during the first phase of odd-even car rationing scheme, outside the Delhi Secretariat against non-payment of their salaries.
"In order to release salaries of contractual workers working with various departments on time, government has directed all Head of Departments to release their salaries on time.
"If HoDs fail to release the amount on time, government will deduct their salaries," said a senior government official.
