Fadnavis assures completion of Gosikhurd project in three years

Maharashtra government has assured farmers that they would be getting water to irrigate their farms from Gosikhurd project within three years.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who yesterday visited Gosikhurd irrigation project site in neighbouring Bhandara district, said the project will be completed in three years.

"As far as Gosikhurd project is concerned an amount of Rs 700 crore has been made available so far," he further said.

Chairing a meeting of concerned officials, Fadnavis also announced that Rs 120 crore would be made available for nearby Bawanthadi project, thus giving boost to irrigation in Vidarbha region.

He took stock of the Gosikhurd project which is nearing completion and interacted with people who are affected by the it.

The chief minister discussed issues of rehabilitation, stalled construction and sub-standard and inferior works and disconnected pump-houses.

He directed authorities to speed up rehabilitation work and complete formalities for setting up gram panchayats in 34 villages for this purpose.

"These gram panchayats will get funds for maintenance of facilities," he said.

Fadnavis also asked the officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) concerned to submit a one-time proposal for Bawanthadi project.
