Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan's star-studded birthday bash was stopped midway for playing loud music past midnight and a fine of Rs 5,000 imposed on the event's organiser, police said today.
Khan threw a grand party last night on the terrace of her residential building, Oberoi Sky Heights, in suburban Andheri to celebrate her 50th birthday.
The party was attended by several B-Town celebrities, including Abhishek Bachchan, his wife Aishwarya, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Sonam Kapoor, Gauri Khan, Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut, among others.
The choreographer-turned-director, whose Diwali release 'Happy New Year', was a blockbuster, turned 50 today.
"Police control room received a call at 12.30 am today complaining about loud noise coming from the building. We sent a police van. Our officials found that a party was going on at the terrace where Farah Khan was celebrating her birthday," said senior Inspector Subhash Wel of Oshiwara Police Station.
"We slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the event organiser for playing loud music and thereby disturbing peace in a residential area. At the same time, the organiser used loud- speakers without taking prior permission. Hence, we stopped the party," the officer said.
As per rules, police permission is mandatory if loudspeakers are to be used in open places, he added.
