Farmer swept away in UP

A farmer was killed when he was swept away by rising waters of a canal here, authorities said today.
The body was recovered after hours of search by divers.
"Ramroop Yadav (32) was washed away by the rising waters of Dhobaha canal while attempting to cross it on the way from the fields to his house last evening," District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar Mishra said.
The farmer was a resident of Belhasa village.
"The body has been sent for post-mortem. After investigation, compensation will be given to the kin of the deceased," he said.
